Founders of PAPER HEARTS, AMELIA + RYAN, share a love for epic vocal harmonies and feel-good tunes. Their signature sound, shared lead vocals, endless vocal harmonies, acoustic guitar and Cajon box drum, continues to capture the hearts of couples, fellow-vendors and venues alike.

Originally from Melbourne, RYAN met Amelia whilst working in a recording studio in Sydney in 2011, fell in love, got married and eventually smuggled her back to Melbourne in 2019. RYAN grew up performing covers solo/duo/trio/band in pubs/clubs/restaurants etc. since the age of 18, as well as touring the country (and overseas) in various originals bands. He also spent many years songwriting/recording/producing for other artists, including many from TV shows such as Australian Idol, X-Factor and The Voice.

Originally from Sydney, AMELIA spent many years of her childhood living in London where she performed in various West End musicals. Fun fact, AMELIA had a small speaking role in the first "Harry Potter" movie (seriously!) and features as a singing character in a series of 'Thomas The Tank Engine' episodes. AMELIA moved back to Australia during her early teens, and as a young adult, she headed off to work as a lead vocalist on cruise ships, travelling the world performing for the next 3 years before meeting Ryan.

A happily married couple themselves, AMELIA + RYAN understand weddings from both a vendors perspective as well as the couples. Their vast wedding experience and versatility see them taking guests on a musical journey from first guest arrival at the ceremony, right through to the very last song of the night - they are available as a duo or trio, and also switch into DJ mode for the popular Duo/DJ combination package.

Emma + Simon has quickly carved out a reputation across Melbourne for effortlessly smooth and heartfelt renditions of modern classics and unique harmony-laden interpretations of well-known wedding favourites.

The couple met years ago when Simon decided to host an Open Mic Night in Emma’s hometown. By chance, the pair first crossed paths at a music store before bumping into each other hours later, guitars in hand at the venue. They’ve been inseparable ever since, on and off stage.

Emma studied music at the Victorian College of the Arts, and her influences incorporate include the likes of Amy Winehouse, Jeff Buckley and Stevie Wonder, captured in performances rich with emotion and refreshing simplicity. Simon’s love of music started with playing the drums and playing along to old blues albums by Eric Clapton and Dire Straits. Years later, incorporating guitar gave him the chance to combine songs by artists like Fleetwood Mac, Crowded House and John Mayer with the same layered grooves and rhythmic playing he’d grown upon.

Their most memorable moments are definitely shared onstage, performing together for special events and intimate occasions. Emma + Simon are also able to be paired with one of our Paper Hearts DJ's for the popular Duo/DJ combination package.

Elise + Andrew

Elise + Andrew are a Melbourne-based musical collaboration, creating good vibes through the joy of music.

Having performed on hundreds of stages across the globe, Elise is widely recognised as a dynamic and deeply soulful singer and was selected as a finalist in the vocalist performance category of the prestigious Unsigned Only Competition, a finalist in the International Acoustic Music Awards, and a semi-finalist in 4 categories of the UK songwriting contest.

Andrew is a seasoned musician and has been performing professionally at weddings/events for several years. He is an expressive and charismatic singer, and talented guitarist utilising a stompbox + loop pedal (step aside Ed Sheeran). His style ranges from down-tempo acoustic love songs to rocking out with funky high energy dance-floor hits.

Elise + Andrew share unrivalled chemistry together and proudly bring their positive energy to boast an extensive repertoire that includes funk, soul, RnB, pop and all of the classic dance-floor hits sure to leave your guests with some sore feet the next morning.

Andrew can also be booked as a solo acoustic performer and also DJs his/their weddings.

Cal is an extremely versatile and talented musician and DJ. Performing cruisey folk and pop tunes, Cal supplies music from the start of your day all the way to closing a banging dance floor. 

Providing the good vibes and epic tunes for hundreds of new couples at weddings & gigs across Australia, Japan and New Zealand has to lead to Cal is one of the most in-demand artists in Victoria. Cal has played the guitar since the early age of six and is still strumming the most beautiful Maton guitar that he received from his parents for Christmas 2005. Cal has constantly been playing and practising to improve his sound and delight audiences continually.

Cal plays a variety of covers with his looper and stompbox to create a full and creative unique sound.  When the lights go down, the dancing shoes are slipped on, and the moon comes out - Cal transitions into a dancefloor-filling DJ so you can party the night away.

Paper Hearts DJ's are a collection of hand-picked professionals with all of the latest professional DJ equipment, sound systems, mixing skills, song selections, stage lighting, and serious wedding experience. We have professional wedding DJ's in both Melbourne + Sydney.

All members of the Paper Hearts DJ team will provide all of their own equipment as required, including PA sound system, DJ decks, laptop, hard-drive etc., party lights, and wireless mic for your MC/speeches.

Our couples are able to request all of their dance-floor faves in the lead up to their wedding via our customised forms (as well as any for our DJs to avoid). Of course, you can leave this completely up to the professionals, have as much or as little input as you like!

The bridal dance we could learn on top of this if need be.

I believe that to be invited to sing on someone’s wedding day, whether it be as the bride walks down the aisle or the party after (or both) is truly a wonderful experience. I have sung for couples as far away as Fargo – North Dakota USA, Bali and Dunk Island and I continue to play at many a local wedding.

My passion and commitment to wedding performance have taken me across Australia, Asia and even to far-flung corners of the US.

Not only do I truly love what I do, but I take great care in delivering exactly what the couple wants and tailoring the music to reflect their personalities. I can do this because I’ve been performing at weddings for over 20 years and have encountered every possible scenario from perfect weather to gale force winds, rain and hail, from small intimate gatherings to large scale events at a huge variety of venues.

Both my extensive experience and personal style allow me to adapt to the environment, no matter what happens on the day, and I guarantee you and your guests will have a truly fantastic, unique and fun-filled celebration. I consider it an honour to be part of the most special day of your lives.

Cam Tapp was born in Launceston, Tasmania in September 1971.

At an early age, he set his mind on being a drummer in a rock band. He moved with his family to Hobart and attended the Hutchins School for his secondary education. Cam left school to manage his parents business on Tasmania’s East Coast. It was here he made up his mind to pursue his dream of playing as a drummer in a band. But he had to postpone his plans when he moved with his family to Adelaide and on to Darwin in 1989.

Cam attended the Darwin University where he met friends of a like-mind while studying for a fine arts degree.

They would form a band. Cam would be its drummer, and they went looking for a singer. But Cam’s mum found the singer for the band they would call Blueprint.  He thought he was home alone, holding the notes to a Platters number. His parents bought Cam a guitar, not a set of drums and his music career had begun.

Cam took easily to the guitar, and in a short time, his new band Blueprint made its debut at Darwin’s toughest venue at the time. The bird-cage bar, a meeting place for bikers. Cam’s parents attended with much reluctance, terrified that his first gig, filled to the max with rowdy, tough-looking bikers, might not go down well. He looked too young, and his appearance might not fit. But they were wrong. He kept the big crowd spell-bound to the last rock song on his repertoire and responded to demands for encores, extending his gig deal to more than two hours.

Soon after his family’s relocation to Hobart, in 1992, Cam formed his second rock-band, Tapp and in a short time with his perfect renditions of popular rock covers became the most sought after band in Hobart. He also teams with the internationally renowned Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra to put his voice to a fund-raising song, Children.

Cam took his guitar on a surfing break to Indonesia, jamming in outlying villages where fate matched him up with Simon Nixon, a Londoner, whose brother successfully managed the band Kuka Shaker. He urged Cam to London with his demos and to make contact.

Months later, fate again stepped in as Cam heads to Canada, to catch up with Simon Nixon. Visa complications landed him in a Japanese detention centre. It turns him away from Canada and lands him in London.

Cam push-biked around the big city, selling sandwiches to high-rise office workers…all the while making contact with London musicians, music industry executives and playing solo gigs. This time it includes a raft of originals, which gets him onto the doorstep of the shakers and movers of London. He writes material for BMG Publishers – in the company of notables as Johnny Marr (The Smiths), Phil Thornalley (The Cure) and Natalie Imbruglia.

He also forms a band with a Belfast musician and the original guitarist for Snow Patrol and in Dublin is asked to record for Sony.

He is offered a deal from BMG. But in a changing industry, Cam baulks at signing and returns to Melbourne where he forms Borne, a band that will make its mark internationally with Cam as lead singer.

Orne’s first single Beautiful in Melbourne is picked up by radio station Nova and networks on high-rotation. A second popular original makes its way into the hit Australian network reality show Big Brother whose eviction segment is tracked for two years in succession with Borne’s  Don’t Go Now.

Melbourne recording company Jellyfish signed Borne and “The Guide” from Borne’s first album, Loss of Signal was downloaded a staggering 1.5 million times in its first week on iTunes in the USA. It was also the first time that a song had been launched simultaneously by iTunes in all countries. “The Guide” also went to #1 on iTunes charts in three countries and number 13 on the US digital Billboard Charts.

Meanwhile Borne and Cam was making waves at home in a clean sweep of the 2007 MusicOz Awards, including Artist of the Year, Best Acoustic Singer-songwriter, The Garth Porter Producer Award and the Nova Unsigned Initiative.

“The Guide” and “Don’t Go Now” from the same album also moved into the commercial and TV Network sector being used by Pal Pedigree, NBC’s Army Wives, Friday Night Lights and became the entrance song to the American WWE 25th Anniversary to a world-wide audience beyond a billion viewers.

Borne went on to record a further three albums including The Blessed Unrest playing live to packed audiences in legendary venues like The Roxy and the Hotel Café in LA and went on to perform at revered invitation-only gigs in Glastonbury, SxSW, 02 Wireless. Cam is also sidelined for a week, working with Disney Studios in a song-writing fest.  Network shows with iconic presenters as Kerry Anne headlined Borne prior to its overseas tour.

On his return to Australia, fate again stepped in, and a set of bright night-lights and a whirring chopper rescue blade ferried Cam to hospital after an accident that spared the lives of the singer and his bride-to-be.

Being in the hospital and getting back gave Cam much time to think about the suddenness of change to life’s direction. Priorities were re-arranged. Family first. Marriage and homes and babies were to become the next peak of his mountain…and to do this, he had to go solo.

‘Cam took a break from touring with borne, and out of the crisis came a creative opportunity. Cam produced the song ‘Suddenly’. It went straight to the heart of everybody’s reality. Everything can change suddenly. Suddenly you are given a second chance.

The song got picked up by US TV network that used it in its series Army Wives. It was also used in Australia with a TV series, Sudden Impact.

As a solo performer Cam produced The Little Black Book of Light, to lyrics jotted down while he was on the move;  and a single to reflect the courage of children fighting back after the devastating Black Saturday Victorian Bushfires. Children from the burnt-out regions form the backdrop chorus to his song Lest We Forget. The children joined with Cam and with a mentor, Kate Cerebrano launched the fund-raising song at a live performance in Melbourne. Soon after its release Lest We Forget goes to #1 on the ARIA singles charts. Today Cam Tapp makes regular visits for catch-up performances with bushfire victims and to renew friendships.

It is only part of Cam’s interaction with charity agencies seeking music-industry mentors for young underprivileged. Borne, with Young Australian of the Year, Hugh Evans and the Oaktree Foundation, develops the Turn Poverty Upside Down campaign. He also launches the Borne Live at the Tote album for charity and contributes a song to a fund-raising album for the protection of the giant trees of the Styx Valley, Tasmania.

With Missy Higgins and other Australian musicians joins a mentor group for chronically ill children of the AARDVARK Foundation.

He also works with Salvation Army song-writing workshops for homeless kids and returns for workshops to his adopted home-town of Triabunna, where he raised funds for musical instruments for the local high school.

Today Cam, is one of Australia’s most sought-after gigsters, flying to and fro to gigs and weddings across the country, to Bali and even to North Dakota where he won hearts by singing the bride’s favourite song The Guide at her wedding.

His experiments in deep-trance and electro genres see him writing and recording with Melbourne electronic duo Def Digital. A co-written song Human is now adding to global dance charts.

Cam’s other love is film-making, and with the use of the WWW, he has instigated a series entitled Famous Tasmanians, featuring original music and ongoing high-quality segments, promoting online stories of Tasmanians from all walks of life.

He is also the father of twin sons Hamish and William, a life-changing addition to the world of Cam Tapp and Narida, his wife.

Between gigs and weddings, film-making, charity-work and parenthood, he looks to the future with another album in mind.

Wedding entertainment played at wedding celebrations, including the ceremony and any festivities before or after the event. Wedding and Corporate Trios

Wedding Trios are perfect for a smaller wedding if space or budget is an issue.  The three-piece band can vary from two lead singers with one instrumentalist to a 'small band' with drums, guitar and keys.  Usually less expensive than a larger band, wedding trios are proving to be extremely popular, especially in the Country areas.

We suggest that if time permits that you go and view the band if you haven't seen them - be aware that some bands are not what they seem - they swap and mix their singers - there are 4 'franchise' bands in Melbourne that 'throw together' a band for your wedding - they hold mass showcases and people are unfortunately led to believe that this 'super band' is who they are getting on the day - you will not........they are a franchise that operates in different parts of Australia, and we have nothing to do with these types of bands - we have seen too much disappointment. We have had to work to replace the band for the client.

​Hi everyone, I'm Ben & I am the owner/director of Wedding Band Collective.

I am a professional musician, and since studying music at university, I have been playing in & managing bands, and now I also DJ too!

A few years ago, when I was fresh out of university, I was lucky enough to join a couple of bands which took me overseas, touring and recording around Australia, NZ, and all over Europe. While on tour, I met the love of my life at a gig in Germany, and luckily for me, she decided to move to Australia. Since then, I have stopped touring and focused on playing and booking gigs in my home town of Melbourne. 

My wife and I got married a few years ago, and our wedding was truly amazing. The best part was having an incredible live band which had people on the dance floor the entire night. Since then, I have spent my efforts providing that same experience to brides & grooms on their big day. The Qualifications

Unlike other professions, there are no formal qualifications needed to be a Master of Ceremonies. For some, it comes naturally (like myself), and for others, some institutions do provide short courses and teach very handy skills on how to make yourself stand out from the crowd as an MC.

In my case, my qualifications and experience outlined on my TV, Radio and Voice Over Artist page have helped with my MC skills and abilities. They have allowed me to continue building confidence and knowledge on how to be even better each time I have the honour and privilege of hosting a special event - whether it be a wedding, birthday party, corporate function, sports presentation, school valedictory dinner, or as a keynote speaker. 

The Reason I Do It

The more I became comfortable being around people, the more natural I felt as a communicator and all-round speaker. And finding out how rewarding being a Master of Ceremonies can also be swayed me to working on my own craft to become someone worthy of the title.

Ase a guest at an event, often I will pay great attention to detail to the MC for that event, and embrace whatever I learned from what they did (or in some cases didn't do) to ensure I deliver on any and all promises I make to my clients when I assume the position and hold that microphone.

Tim brings a wealth of music industry experience that rivals most musicians, having worked as a professional musician since the age of 15. Although specialising in Bass and Guitar, Tim is also no stranger to the chair of Musical Director and has developed and managed bands from studio rehearsals to national tours. He not only brings a wealth of musicianship and exceptional gigging experience to his role as Talent Manager, but Tim Wilson is also the Director of videography and media company, Steve The Fish Media. Tim works closely with our Event Entertainers artists to develop their portfolios, developing and producing their promotional music videos, as well as creating content for our colleagues in the entertainment industry. We here at Oberon Lane HQ thought we’d give you a quick little introduction to the two people that keep all your weddings and events running behind the scenes. Introducing Elle and Jordan - business partners, musicians, emailers, wedding fans and the owners of Oberon Lane 🙂

It was a chilly September evening 10+ years ago when, Jordan was doing a show in Surry Hills and young pop superstar, Elle May, opened up the show. The two quickly became best mates, and after some fun gigs together, began writing and playing music as their country-pop duo @heartbeatsmind.

Fast forward many years, hundreds of gigs a Nashville recording trip and many travel adventures, the two decided to go into business together and formed Oberon Lane. 

They brought together all the best quality artists and musicians that they had met over the years, designed some amazing wedding packages, and got to work. Oberon Lane was born and within 3 years booked its 500th wedding.

Now it’s daily meetings, hundreds of emails, clients all over Australia and nothing but happy brides and 5 star-reviews. While the day to day running of the company fills most of their hours, they still perform at least 100 weddings a year together as the Oberon Lane flagship duo and trio.

They have come to the wedding to support you at the biggest milestone of your life, so by all means, let them have a blast!

It’s no secret that having amazing music is an essential part of throwing a fun wedding reception. After all, who doesn’t want to see their closest friends and family danced the night away? However, it can be difficult to decide whether you should have a live band or DJ lead the festivities on your big day. Here are a few factors you can consider when deciding on your wedding music.

Choose a live band if …

You have a sizable budget

With all of the equipment, time, effort, and talent that goes into a wedding band production, it’s little wonder that live bands cost significantly more than a DJ. If you’re on a tight budget, a wedding band definitely won’t be the most cost-effective option.

A good band should be able to adapt to the mood and needs of guests so that the musicians can interact with the guests.

Although a band’s music can tailor more to you and your partner’s specific interests, bands have less overall variety than DJs. While guests can request songs from DJs or bands, a DJ can play more songs, which may get more guests on the dance floor. A band will be limited to their repertoire and what they’re comfortable playing. Hiring a DJ


Other than the cost, the other major benefit when hiring a DJ is the variety of songs you’ll be able to play at your wedding. Whether you want to dance to pop hits or disco music, DJs have it all. Guests can also request songs at your wedding, and the DJ will most likely be able to fulfil any request, so there’s bound to be a song or two for anyone to enjoy. Even with the wide range of music DJs have, it’s worth taking a peek at their songs to make sure your favourites are there.

While DJs have remixes and covers, a wedding DJ can also play the original song from your favourite artist. When you hire a wedding band, they are only going to play their own music or covers, so if you have your heart set on hearing Frank Sinatra sing “Fly Me to the Moon” for your first dance, a DJ is the best choice for you. 

As a band, a DJ will be able to engage the crowd. A DJ will also take shorter breaks, if at all. While bands need breaks (this should be discussed in the contract), DJs can keep the party going all night long. With no awkward transitions or lulls in energy, you and your guests are free to mingle on the dance floor at any time.


You don’t want a DJ who makes you cringe! Before you book a DJ, see if you can meet them in person to see if you can get along well. Most importantly, go over a list of songs you want to hear at your wedding and the songs you would dread to hear. Do you hate group dances? If the sound of the Cha-Cha Slide isn’t for you, then make sure it’s on your no-play list!

Unlike a band, DJs are less adaptable. If a song needs to be slowed down or sped up, they don’t have too much control over it while a band just take the tempo back. Despite this, a DJ can still be sensitive to what the crowd enjoys and play the music that people respond to well. Some DJs also have a pre-made setlist and only allow a certain number of requests – even from the bride and groom themselves!

Can You Have Both a Wedding Band and a DJ?

If you love music and can’t decide between a band or DJ, it is possible to have both. However, most couples will pick either a band or a DJ because of price limitations. While you may be able to pay a DJ or band hourly, you may still need to pay full price for both because your DJ or band won’t be able to play another wedding or venue that same night. Select companies do have band and DJ combination packages for die-hard music lovers, or you can hire your own band and DJ separately. 

When hiring both a band and a DJ, think about the mood of your wedding. A live band and DJ can shift the atmosphere drastically, so be mindful about sudden changes in wedding music and tone. Sticking to either a band or DJ makes it easier to keep the party consistent and fun for all. However, if you do opt for both, talk to your band and DJ to make any transitions smooth.

How to choose wedding reception music.
